Weatherfield has been hit with a fresh murder probe after Joel was found dead in a river – but Coronation Street viewers have been left concerned by his ex-girlfriend Dee-Dee Bailey
Coronation Street fans have been left fearing Dee-Dee Bailey is pregnant with Joel Deering’s baby in a dark twist. On Monday (October 14), the ITV soap saw Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) break the news to DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) that Joel’s body had been found.
Kit later revealed the post-mortem showed two blows to Joel’s head were what finished him off despite his body being found in a river.
The police have launched a murder investigation into the solicitor’s death, and there is no shortage of characters who may be in the frame.
Joel’s (played by Calum Lill) shock demise comes after he was exposed for his violent and very terrifying behaviour towards Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).
DS Swain has made it no mystery that she wanted to bring Joel down and has gone to extreme lengths in her attempt to do so, but Joel’s killer is a mystery as a new Weatherfield ‘whodunit’ officially kicks off.
Meanwhile, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) called off her engagement to Joel when she realised he was the father of Lauren’s baby son. The turmoil spurred solicitor Dee-Dee on to ensure she brought Joel to justice.
After Kit confirmed Joel’s death to her, Dee-Dee was left over emotional as she looked like she was struggling with the news both physically and mentally.
However, some Coronation Street fans are predicting that Dee-Dee will be pregnant with Joel’s baby in one final blow.
Taking to Reddit, one Corrie fan shared: “I’m predicting that Dee Dee isn’t just sick over the murder of Joel, but possibly also pregnant with his baby.”
They added: “If she is, that would be a cruel twist after everything the poor woman has been through. I’m also aware she doesn’t believe in sex before marriage so I could be dead wrong here. Thoughts..?”
A second replied: “I thought so too,” while a third chimed in: “That’s the first thing I thought of when she said she felt nauseous. She is having a devil child.”
Another speculated: “I think Joel drugged her and … (sorry, didn’t want to type it out) and that was why celibacy was mentioned so often in the show as it was pointless when it was said…or they had a mistake, but she is 100% pregnant…”
“I was thinking something similar, I just really hope it’s not the case”, urged one viewer as another added: “There’ll be a flashback where she realised she was drugged and Joel…”
