Vicky Myers, who used to be on Coronation Street, has talked about a hard year in her life. She was diagnosed with cancer and went through a tough split, which meant she had to put her playing career on hold.
As DS Lisa Swain on the ITV soap opera, the actor had to find other ways to pay her bills. She also took a two-year break from auditions to work in an office and raise her teenage daughter Meghan.
She talked about getting over her health problems and a hard breakup: “I don’t know if it’s because of my medical history, but I am so proud to be here and just to be living each day to the full.”
I was very sad, angry, and spiteful when my husband and I broke up. When I found out I had cancer, I remember thinking, “If this is it for me, I’ve missed out on all this time with my daughter and I haven’t really been the best person I wanted to be.”

She told The Mirror, “The diagnosis put me back on track and helped me decide what’s important to me and what makes me happy.” Now, seeing the Coronation Street sign on my way to work is pretty scary.
She told the newspaper, “My nephew has a heart condition.” This is how the diagnosis came about. The doctor asked, “Can I take a look at that mark on your leg?” as we were leaving. I was in the hospital in five days.
It was that day that I wore three-quarter length battle pants. They can be rolled up into shorts. That’s what I did in the car before my meeting because it was so hot in June.
I find it hard to believe that the doctor would not have seen the small dark spot on my leg if it had been a bad day. That day, I knew there was an angel watching over me.
Early this year, it came out that Vicky had signed a regular deal to play DS Swain. She posted the news on Instagram and said, “DS Swain is here to stay.”
