Emmerdale newcomer and Brassic star Samantha Power has opened up on her new role as Tina Dingle, who was originally played by Jacqueline Pirie, three decades ago
In Thursday night’s emotional episode of Emmerdale, Samantha Power talked about her new part as Tina Dingle. She showed up out of the blue on the day of Zak Dingle’s funeral and caused a lot of emotion. Tina is the daughter of Zak and Nellie Dingle. She has three siblings: Cain, Sam, and Belle. Belle has been abused by Tom King in a really scary story.
Of course, her new job as a guest at Dingle wasn’t easy because she tried to get into the family home. It was made clear, though, that she wouldn’t be in Zak’s will. Fans were shocked when Tina came back with a new look. The original star, Jacqueline Pirie, played the part before, and her last showing was 28 years ago.

When asked if she had seen the first Tina movie, Samantha, who plays Brassic and Ackley Bridge, said, “Yes!” Of course I remember Jaqueline, who played Tina. I remember her character very clearly because she was so great. I’m very lucky to be able to continue where she left off.
“My husband said he had never seen me so scared before! The first scene I did on my first day was with all the Dingles at the grave sites. That’s a lot, right? Thank goodness everyone was so friendly and helpful.
Samantha fit right in on set, and she gave Lisa Riley a shout-out. “I want to give a shout-out to Lisa Riley, who is the nicest person ever. I felt so safe when I met her at the screen test. She gave so much, helped so much, and encouraged so much, and that continued every day on set. It was great to work with her.
In the show, Tina was taken away by police for not following the rules of her bail. However, we may not see this character or Samatha again. When asked if she plans to come back after her time, Samantha said, “Of course!” I would love to come back to Emmerdale and cause more trouble because it’s a great place to work and Tina is a great character.
On X, the site that used to be called Twitter, original actor Jacqueline talked about the recasting and Tina’s return. She wrote, “So many questions regarding Tina Dingle’s return.” Great show and great character. I hope everything goes well for @sampower_sam. I had a great time playing her, and I’m sure she will too. It was a pleasure to be a part of this great group, and no, they didn’t ask me to be in Epmerdale or Tina’s single.
