Carla Connor (Alison King) shocks her family with a confession about Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) murder case in forthcoming Coronation Street scenes, but she isn’t the only one carrying a secret.
Joel Deering was killed earlier this month, and the manhunt is on for his perpetrator.
After he went missing at the end of September, investigators determined that his death was a suicide.
However, when his corpse washed up in a river, the post-mortem revealed that he had died before reaching the water, resulting in an active murder inquiry.
Joel has created many enemies, thus there are many individuals in the running for his assassination, and Carla isn’t helping herself.
In the following scenes, Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) questions Elizabeth about her whereabouts on the night of Joel’s death.
Joel was last seen on September 27 with scratches on his face, indicating a struggle with someone.
Carla, on the other hand, claims that she just slipped out to the factory to switch off the lights – but is this true?
The following day, she admits to Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) that she lied to the police and that she had been at home with him and Ryan all evening, indicating that she is concealing something.
Why does Carla feel compelled to lie to the police? Is she concealing anything significant that might link her to Joel’s murder? Is she the killer?
Also, DS Lisa Swain is keeping a secret of her own. Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) is taken aback when she goes in and finds Lisa covered in bruises – but where did they come from?
‘They both obviously have their own secrets,’ actor Vicky Myers said of Carla and Lisa’s shifty behavior.
‘I believe that nobody in any field of life is completely honest with anybody else. So, who knows what secrets individuals keep? Who knows what skeletons lurk in the closet, particularly this time of year!
‘So hang on, because it’s going to be a rough journey, and nothing ever goes smoothly in Weatherfield, does it?’
